Call for submissions
If you’re 13-21 and make films, please send them our way! Films selected for screening will be chosen by Young Programmers, a panel of 14-19 year olds based at They Eat Culture. They will be choosing their favourite films to be screened at Young Programmers Film Festival 2012 on March 3rd, and an overall winner will be announced within each category.
Young filmmakers are invited to respond to the theme ‘Dreams’ this year. The films that will be featured in Young Programmers Film Festival will take us on a fantastical journey to places that will only be limited by the mind itself. All genres are welcome: drama, comedy, animation, documentary, experimental, music video, horror.
All films must be under 20 minutes in length and the film maker must be aged 13-21. Please send a link or file along with your date of birth and address to: youngprogrammers2012@gmail.com
DEADLINE: Friday 3rd February
CPD Day:
This will be a day of talks and workshops aimed at exploring 21st Century film literacy. What is film literacy? It is making film more accessible to children and young people for their enjoyment, as a means of understanding the world and as a medium of self expression. This will be a chance to talk about developing film culture in Lancashire and using film when working with young people to develop critical and
cultural engagement. The day will feature workshops, talks and Q&As by industry professionals as well as plenty of opportunities for questions and networking.
This is part of a wider film literacy project called Young Programmers which is delivered to 13-19 year olds in Lancashire by They Eat Culture in partnership with FACT in Liverpool and funded by BFI, Creative England and National Lottery funds.
Friday 2nd March, New Continental Preston.
Schedule TBC, approx times: 12-6
