Whats On

Inner City Unit + Krankschaft

Thursday, 18 August 2016 - 7:00pm

INNER CITY UNIT

Inner City Unit were formed in 1979 by Nik Turner following his departure from Hawkwind. The next seven years were full of album releases, packed gigs, festivals, demonstrations, stunts, arrests and mayhem, their legend was cast and then they vanished.

ICU split in 1986 reforming occasionally for one off gigs, but this is the first tour that the band has done with all original members since the 80s. Expect an evening of Punky Psychedelia, Acid Rock at its finest and as one reviewer put it: "This is your last chance for a genuine psychedelic experience, this band will never grace the stage on Top of the Pops!" Inner City Unit are Nik Turner, Dino Ferari, Steve Pond and Nazar Ali Khan, they all played with ICU in the 1980s, none of them are responsible adults.

KRANKSCHAFT

Not many bands in their prime can lay claim to a 30 year history, but Krankschaft are currently in that position. Following the release of "Three" the bands fourth album, as a trio Krankschaft are turning heads with their incendiary mix of psychedelic wig outs, pop songs and no frills power trio telepathy. Three lost boys from the depths of the 70s transported into our dystopian present yearning for the future promised in their past. This is the sound of the spheres, time travel for the ears, close your eyes and come fly with us. Expect humour, great tunes, high energy and a complete disregard for cool.
