Like your Blues with a lot of Rhythm and your Rock with a lot of Roll?

Big Boy Bloater and the Limits is the band in question and they're bringing their raucous brand of R&B with a modern twist to The Continental’s 18th Beer & Cider Festival

Bring your dancing shoes and be ready for tales of stalkers, dance-crazes, robot lovers + more set to an infectious beat, with world class guitar, and a vocal that has not only been compared to a cross between Tom Waits and Howlin' Wolf but was voted as 'one of the top 100 blues vocalists of all time' in a poll by readers of The Blues Magazine.

"Raucous, rollicking good time Blues" - Classic Rock Magazine

BLUE JUICE

Blue Juice play funk, soul and acid jazz classics taken from over four decades. They play music of Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, Brand New Heavies and others with their own style and effortless groove.

Gary Thistlethwaite, Keith Ashcroft, Dave Jackson and Andy Smith each bring experience and exceptional musicality into the mix producing the perfect sound around Laura Thistlewhwaite’s soaring, soulful vocals. Live, Blue Juice is something to behold. There is a palpable raw energy amidst the chops making it impossible for any member of the audience to remain still. The reputation of the band is spreading.

Blue Juice is set to be one of the busiest bands on the circuit.

PADDY GARRIGAN AND THE STROLLER PRIESTS

Paddy Garrigan and the Stroller Priests is a three piece band from Ulverston and Lancaster, featuring songwriter Paddy on guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonium and piano; Ben McCabe on drums, french horn and backing vocals: and Darren Leadsom on bass and backing vocals.

The band’s music is best described as alt-folk/rock. Story songs with great melodies, occasional wig outs and pleasant squawks. Sea monsters, James Joyce, the afterlife, Dad’s Army, the stoned freaks in the town centre and the universe blues are just some of what awaits the listener, set to a deftly musical soundtrack of runaway grunge, barreling (or barrelhousing) rock’n’roll, mandolin dub, melodious folk and epic guitar heroics.

“Absolutely awesome record, been singing it for days.” - Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music)

“Mandolin ska folk psychedelia doesn’t even make a halfway decent description. Off the wall and up the alley." fRoots Magazine

“Excellent debut album…highly enjoyable listening experience 4/5****” R2 Rock and Reel Magazine

THE JONNY OATES BAND

The Johnny Oates Band are a young rock jam band from Brindle, Preston, dubbed "Discovery of the Year" at US radio station Indie Music People, and this year’s winners of the ‘Last Band Standing’ tournament at The Ferret.

Bringing Americana with a modern, raw twist, and backed by wonderful musicians, Jonny draws from his influences (Springsteen, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Counting Crows, Marillion, to name a few) to create a very exciting and diverse sound. A welcome breath of fresh air on the current scene.

THE ONIONS

Created in 2012 to spread the love through the power of indie guitar music. Their repertoire of guitar driven indie covers, includes songs from the 60s/70s/80s/90s/00s and played with their own darker edge. From Adam & the Ants to the Wedding Present, there's something for everyone in there at this Saturday night indie singalong!

THE DELATOURS

Taking the lead from 80s favourites like the Housemartins, The Smiths, Wedding Present, Pogues, Billy Bragg and New Order, Preston legends The Delatours play original bitter sweet indie songs about public house wastrels and romantic cul-de-sacs.

ADAM SHAW

Adam Shaw is the guitarist/songwriter-singer of cult North West band Ivan Campo. Over the years they have self released ten albums and had the good fortune to share the stage with exceptionally talented artists such as Shack, Space, Jeffrey Lewis, Jason Lytle, Roddy Woomble, Curtis Eller and Nick Harper.

FMA + 12 GAGE

FMA + 12 Gage are the world's greatest Father and Son rap duo. Since joining forces in 2013 their anger fuelled songs and live shows have struck a chord with audiences and they have surprised many with their slick raps and energetic performances. Their debut album 'Parental Advisory' is currently under construction.

CROSSBILL

Crossbill is an acoustic-led-indie-pop band from Preston. Kevin Cross (songs, vocals & acoustic guitar) and John Harkins (patience, guitar & banjo) have been doing this sort of thing for ages - really, a looooong time. Sometimes they are a duo, occasionally a trio but more recently, more often than not, they are a quartet. Right now Crossbill is Kev & John along with another Kev (percussion) and Richard (bass).

AL SMITH

Al Smith is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Darwen, best known as the singer and bassist with alternative-rock band India Mill. As a solo artist, Al performs acoustic versions of India Mill's original songs, and an eclectic mix of rock, blues, and folk covers.
