Continental's 17th Beer Festival - The Band Stand

Friday, 12 May 2017 - 5:00pm - Saturday, 13 May 2017 - 11:00pm

BEER FESTIVAL time again folks! And as ever we have a brilliant Live Music & Vinyl DJ Line-Up on our special Outdoor Marquee Stage. Take a look at this lot...

ZAMAICA

Eight piece band Zamaica represent the multi cultural world of reggae, and associated genres, and is a family friendly group with a conscious message and image. The perfect climax to your Beer Festival Saturday!

TEMPLEBYS

Cited as 'Preston's very own Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings', the Templebys have been working up a storm with their own brand of northern boogaloo and hot-grit soul, playing to audiences all over the country. Past engagements include Kendal Calling and opening up for the Hot 8 Brass Band and the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Experience - we know you're going to love 'em. On stage Saturday tea time!

"Funk driven quartet, One of the most exciting prospects to come out of Preston for a while" Danni Skerrit, Quenched

NEON CACTUS

Six-piece, Preston-based Funk/Soul/Motown combo will have you shakin' your butt come Friday night at 8.15!

THE ONIONS

Created in 2012 to spread the love through the power of indie guitar music. Their repertoire of guitar driven indie covers, includeS songs from the 60s/70s/80s/90s/00s and played with their own darker edge. From Adam & the Ants to the Wedding Present, there's something for everyone in there at this Friday night singalong!

VUKOVAR

Vukovar hail from the St Annes/Wigan/St Helens axis of evil. They emerged thirty years too late to take up their rightful place at the Leeds Futurama Festival, but nonetheless at the rite time for their acerbic, bass-heavy post-punk to be informed by Coil, Cabaret Voltaire, Sisters of Mercy, J.G. Ballard, J.G. Thirlwell and The Coachwhips

SWEENEY ASTRAY

Recently featured on BBC Radio Lancashire and playing at north west festivals this summer, Sweeney Astray are an alt indie northern folk act with catchy melodies and stories to tell in every song. Their new EP "Flow" is available online and at Action Records Preston. With a new full band line up which includes two singers/guitarist in Mike and Katie, drums, bass and Preston guitarist Jamie Brewer

SPRINTERS
Sprinters have forged a reputation as one of the most thrilling live acts in Manchester, and have played support slots for high profile acts such as The Monochrome Set, Chastity Belt, Holy Wave and La Luz, as well as shows all over the UK under their own steam. In 2015 they released their debut single on Blak Hand Records which received critical acclaim from the likes of The Skinny, who described the single as possessing 'the sort of hazy, warm pared down cookery of Real Estate'.

SEAN KEEFE AND THE HOSTAGES
Preston’s own Telecaster–twanging Redneck rockers The Hostages return to the stage after a two-year absence to play some shit–kickin' anthems that’ll make your toes tap and your shoes salute. Springsteen meets Tom Waits via Austin, Texas, all served up by four guys who don’t just sing of going through hell, they could draw you a map of the place on a beer mat. Expect great tunes, great beer, and a great time - Saturday at 8!

THE DROP-OUT WIVES
The Drop-Out Wives are an Acid Punk band from sunny old Blackpool formed in 2007 the Wives have been slinging their own brand of acid damaged punk around the North West for years and gained a reputation for wild live shows and on stage theatrics.

SUSIE JONES BAND
Lancashire born singer-songwriter Susie Jones has been exploring the worlds of folk and Americana for a number of years and Shake Away the Devil is her latest incarnation.

Exposing herself with heartfelt lyrics and energetic performances she is rightly described as a "rare individual in the music business" (Americana UK) and "enchanting" by FATEA. Working on new material, Susie hasn't settled long and is continuing her musical exploration and if you join her and her band you won't be disappointed.

MEGAN ROE
This incredibly talented guitar-playing young singer-songwriter from Blackpool will ease you into Saturday's proceedings very nicely, we think. Catch Megan at 3pm.

MAGIC ISLAND DJS

These vinyl DJs will transform our music stage into an outdoor paradise of its own when they man the decks!
