‘Un-Peeled’ Folk Show featuring Martin Carthy, Alasdair Roberts (full band set) and Of Arrowe Hill
Tickets £12.50 advance
Un-Peeled is a special series of events in Preston and Manchester to celebrate John Peel Day, exclusively featuring artists who recorded radio sessions for the legendary BBC DJ, either in their current or previous incarnations. Following on from last year’s memorable all-dayer headlined by Clinic, Tuff Life Boogie and They Eat Culture have programmed a full schedule of amazing shows including artists that Peel and his producer John Walters asked back to record time after time.
We are really pleased to welcome back to the Conti for the third year running, the wonderful Martin Carthy M.B.E., a true legend who clocked up 14 Peel session appearances both solo and with Steeleye Span.
This time Martin is playing with renowned Scottish modern-folker Alasdair Roberts who has produced a superlative run of albums in the last decade following his Peel session appearance with his band Appendix Out in 2001. Alasdair is doing a rare, and exclusive, show with his full band, with whom he recorded his latest as yet unreleased record in April 2012.
Completing the line-up is reclusive Wirral musician Adam Easterbrook, known as Of Arrowe Hill, who has released several albums of sublime psych-folk since his Peel session in 2003. This is an ultra-rare Northern appearance, since Adam moved away a few years ago.
