Community Engagement Activator - DEADLINE 25th MARCH.

 
Freelance Contract: £5000 fee over period March 2015 – October 2015 (Approx 30 days work)
 
This is an initial fee and we are currently bid writing to increase the scope of this post during the project lifespan and beyond.
 
About They Eat Culture: They Eat Culture is a direct creative intervention into the cultural life of Preston and Lancashire. We programme, commission and produce quality arts and cultural work, and run culturally engaging in depth projects co-designed with the community. www.theyeatculture.org
 
About Hit the North: Hit the North is a site-specific curated programme of cross-arts work developed in/around Preston’s Victorian train station. This project is a programme of residencies and commissions placing artists alongside communities, working to present shared visions of Preston’s identity/ies.
 
Purpose of Job: The Hit the North – Community Engagement Activator will be responsible for ensuring positive creative community connections, activity and relationships across the Hit the North Arts Council programme of artist residencies, commissions and co-productions. This is a crucial new role in ensuring that our work is delivered with high quality social engagement outcomes and is built with long-term community relationships in mind.

Artist Commission Opportunity - DEADLINE 8th APRIL.

 
Several commissions - around £3000.
 
They Eat Culture are working with LeftCoast to produce Banquet, a new participatory project funded by Arts Council England. Banquet will be a collaborative event, celebrating all the positive aspects of food and the sense of community that it can bring. It will explore the art of eating together, local produce, healthy food, cooking and growing your own.
 
Banquet will involve a number of Blackpool & Wyre based participatory arts commissions each with a budget of around £3000. We want to work with artists who have an interest and engagement with food related topics and whose practice involves working closely with communities.
 
We will be working with local community groups to select and progress the commissioning process and aim to have all projects in place by early May. We will be back in touch about your application prior to this, to let you know, if you have been successful & the next steps.

Associate Artists

 

The Associate Artists scheme provides access to facilities, space, and development opportunities, and results in creative relationships.

 

Associate & Resident artists are given opportunities to develop and
present work & projects in association with the Continental Arts Space / They Eat Culture as a creative agency, in order to help achieve the overall aims of They Eat Culture and the aims of the individual artist. They are encouraged to develop useful relationship with other associate artists and outside public, private, and grassroots organisations.

Intellectual Property is negotiated to support both the artists’ and the company’s needs. Associate & Resident Artists have access to creative, marketing, events, and administrative support and facilities at the Continental Arts Space / They Eat Culture. Associate Artists are unpaid, and tend to work on a negotiated project or a loosely linked creative facilitation basis, and are encouraged and assisted to seek project funding. Residencies can grow out of Associate Artists creative relationships. Resident Artists are invited into The Continental Arts Space & They Eat Culture to work on a 12-month project-specific funded residency basis.

Volunteering

 

Volunteers are an integral part of the work we do at They Eat Culture and in the Continental Arts Space, and we appreciate and value the help that volunteers give us. Because volunteers want to help us, we want the volunteering process to help them in their career or personal objectives, and to reflect their interests.

 

We can offer volunteer roles across our work, but primarily in specific projects (such as Cinema around the Corner & spoken word project strands), events coordination, programming, technical events work, and marketing/press. Within these broad areas we can arrange a whole range of volunteering experience from entry level to project management level. We aim to help develop our volunteers’ experience with their work and personal goals in mind and so we will ensure that the volunteering process is managed from entry to exit. The volunteering you will undertake with us is determined by how much time you can commit to, the type of volunteering you want to do, and the skills we need.   

Volunteers can undertake work on an ongoing basis or on a project or time specific basis. Volunteers may come to us because they are interested in the organisation and would like to work alongside us to develop their skills. TEC may go on recruitment drives to find volunteers who are interested in specific skill sets or areas of work.
