Food & Drink

The Continental is an ideal place to eat out, whether it's a romantic meal for two or a birthday celebration for you and all your friends: our kitchen is sure to satisfy all tastes and all appetites. All meals are prepared fresh to order, and the best ingredients are sourced locally from family firms.

Drinks, beer, wine, tea & coffee...

We pride ourselves in having the best drinks in Preston: we have up to six ever changing hand-pulled cask conditioned ales on at any one time, showcasing the best of local and national brewers - along with a wine list hand packed by the award winning wine merchants, D.Byrnes of Clitheroe, superb soft drinks and an exclusive Italian blend coffee.

Excellent food for the kids...

Our children’s meals are cooked to the same high standard as our adult meals: here at The Continental, we don’t palm kids off with mechanically reclaimed chicken nuggets or fish fingers. Choose from the special kids menu, or order a half portion off menu – ask the staff for details.

Changing seasons, changing menus

Our menu changes with each season – from hearty stews in the winter through to refreshing salads in the summer, we always make the most of what's being harvested and what foods are in season. Plus the specials board changes daily with short-season produce and what’s been caught that morning dictating what’s available. At the bar, we stock seasonal beers – dark warming stouts in winter, and light summer ales in warmer climes: as well as mulled wine and liquor-laced coffees over the winter months.

Have a look in the 'we love produce' section to find out more about the produce, producers, and suppliers. And if you want to whet your appetite, download one of our easy to read menus and start imagining the flavours exploding on your taste buds.

November Menu...

As the nights draw in and the weather becomes decidedly soggy, why not come into the warm and sample some hearty, quality winter fare before retiring to our cosy Snug area with its roaring fire. Imagine coming in from the cold to a cheese topped oven baked cottage pie served with chunky bread, a garlic & rosemary roasted loin of lamb served on greens, garlic mash and red wine sauce or a slow roasted honey glazed belly pork served on Bury black pudding bubble and squeak mash, with red wine and thyme sauce. Or, if meat isn’t your thing, you may like to sample our roasted pumpkin, sundried tomato and herb risotto or our baked field mushrooms, Dolphinholme goats cheese and spinach tart, served on dressed leaves with red wine and shallot dressing. It’s your call.
